Another suspected armed robber has been arrested by Tema regional police command for his involvement in the murder of a police officer, Micheal Kporyi.
Constable Michael Kporyi of the Tema regional Rapid Deployment Force (RDF) was killed by suspected gunmen at the UBA Service Station near Michel Camp in Tema. He was on a motorbike patrol duty when he met his untimely death.
His body was found lying in a nearby bush in a pool of blood.
The prime suspect was shot dead by the Police on Wednesday, June 14, at Tulaku near Michel Camp.
Public Relations Officer of the Tema regional police command, assistant superintendent of police, ASP Joseph Benefo Darkwah said the suspect Razak Salifu was arrested on Friday after investigations revealed that he was one of the two persons involved in the killing of the constable.
“On arrival at the suspect’s residence, Salifu, on seeing the police, decided to escape by scaling the fence wall of the house. To prevent the suspect from running away, the police shot him in the leg and immediately rushed him to the Tema General Hospital for treatment,” ASP Darkwah said.
He added, the suspect is on admission under police guard.
